About Akedi Online
Akedi Online is operated by SUUQ ONLINE (U) LTD, a registered private company in the Republic of Uganda building a modern marketplace for discovering, buying and selling products through the web and mobile applications. We are incorporated under the Companies Act 2012 with registration number G250212-3037.
Akedi combines classifieds, seller shops, product discovery, messaging, short-form product content and Live shopping in one platform designed around Ugandan buyers, sellers and businesses.
Our Mission
To make local online trade more accessible, transparent and useful by giving buyers better ways to discover and understand products, while giving sellers professional tools to build visibility and serve customers online.
What Akedi Offers
Buyers can browse products by category, location and search, while sellers can publish and manage listings from their Akedi account.
Vendors can operate public shop pages with their own handle, logo, products, business information and available branding tools.
Akedi supports seller-shop presentation features such as hero images, galleries, shop stories, QR codes, appearance options and available shop templates so businesses can present themselves more professionally.
Short-form product content gives sellers another way to demonstrate products and gives buyers a more visual way to discover what is available.
Eligible sellers can demonstrate selected products in real time, while buyers can watch Live broadcasts, see featured products and move directly into product or seller interactions.
Akedi Inbox allows buyers and sellers to communicate directly about products, availability, pickup, delivery and other transaction details.
Marketplace tools such as reviews, shop follows, categories, recommendations and product rails help users discover sellers and products more efficiently.
Akedi may provide free and paid seller packages with different visibility, promotional and seller-tool benefits, helping businesses choose a level that fits how they sell.
How Akedi Works
Akedi is primarily a marketplace platform rather than a traditional retailer. Independent sellers publish their own products, manage their shops and communicate with buyers. Unless a feature clearly states otherwise, Akedi does not take ownership of the physical goods listed by sellers.
- Buyers discover products through listings, search, categories, seller shops, Reels and Live;
- Sellers manage listings, public shop content and available seller tools;
- Buyers and sellers can communicate through the Akedi Inbox;
- Reviews, verification and marketplace safety tools help users make better-informed decisions;
- Seller packages and promotions can provide additional visibility or platform features;
- Akedi may review or remove content that violates marketplace or safety rules.
Seller Shops Built for the Web
An Akedi seller shop is more than a product list. Depending on the features available to the seller, a shop can include a public web address, shop handle, branding, logo, hero banner, gallery, business story, QR code, products and different presentation templates. This gives a local seller a professional web presence without requiring them to build a separate ecommerce website from scratch.
Live and Visual Commerce
Akedi combines normal marketplace browsing with visual product discovery. Reels help sellers show products through short-form content, while Akedi Live allows eligible sellers to demonstrate products in real time and feature specific items during a broadcast. These tools are designed to make product discovery more informative and interactive.
Built for Local Sellers
From an individual seller testing a small business idea to an established shop that wants a stronger online presence, Akedi is designed to reduce the technical work required to reach customers. Sellers can use the same platform for listings, shop presentation, customer conversations, visual content and Live selling.
Marketplace Safety
Akedi provides moderation, reporting and blocking tools and may review listings or user-generated content that create safety concerns or violate marketplace rules. Buyers and sellers remain responsible for exercising reasonable care when arranging payments, meetings, pickup and delivery.
